Central Baptist Church began as a vision in the hearts and minds of some dedicated believers from Bell Shoals Baptist Church in the mid and late sixties. The church body was constituted in 1967.

The members literally poured a great deal of blood sweat and tears into her development. The first and second buildings erected on the property then were the sanctuary and the education buildings which are now the fellowship hall/lunch room and pre-school/nursery wing, respectively.

Though the church had its challenges through the years, it grew in number and ministries.  In result, the need for a larger sanctuary and more education space arose. In 1974, the current worship center and office space was erected.
 
In 1980, the church got behind the vision for Central Baptist Christian School, a ministry of Central Baptist Church. As many Christians schools do, it began as a daycare program and blossomed forth to its present state of k3-8th grade.

In the early eighties a youth building was built, and in the mid-eighties, a two story education building was built. After this, it wasn't until the mid-nineties before any other additions were made, four classroom modulars, and since the mid-nineties, four more classrooms modulars were added in 2000.

Associated with these buildings are grounds improvements like a basketball court, parking and driveway paving, sidewalks, awnings, landscaping and the procurement of four-and-half acres in 1996. This makes the total property holdings 16.5 acres in the middle of Brandon, Florida, on two main thoroughfares

A new Middle school building with 6 class rooms, offices, a new Library and a modern Computer lab was added in 2003. This building houses our 6th, 7th and 8th graders. The library and computer labs are used by students of all grades.

 A modern state of the art fully equipped Gymnasium was opened in 2005. This facility houses a new cafeteria/dining area and kitchen. There is a large stage for school, church and community programs. The athletic setting is first class with retracting basketball hoops, volleyball net pole holders built into the floor, modern state of the art floor material on the courts and throughout provide comfort and safety for all activities. The athletic department has comfortable offices and there is plenty of storage space available. There are large locker rooms and showers for boys and girls This facility complements our abundant outdoor sports fields..

Central has had nine senior pastors and a host of associates and support staff. Though its membership has fluctuated through the past 40 plus years, the school ministry has grown consistently in the past 27 plus years.
